1939 Ford Fordor

Up for auction is this very nice old ’39 Ford Fordor Sedan.

The engine is a 85 HP Flat-head V-8. Starts instantly every time, and does not smoke. It idles so smooth you can barley hear it run! 50 lbs of oil pressure, runs smooth and cool! 3 spd on the floor with original tranny that really shifts smooth.

The paint looks to be original with some chips and scratches from normal use over the many yrs, however, remains very presentable. No rust through and no dents, 100% solid along with floor pans and trunk in excellent shape. The glass is all very nice with no cracks, fogging or separation. The doors open & close nicely as does the hood and trunk lid.

The gauges all work with the exception of the speedo as need new cable that just broke. When I was driving it the speedo needle started jumping and then it just quit. The headlights work on both high and low beam. The trumpet horns both work and are extremely loud.

This car has a crank out windshield that works. This feature is really cool. The bumpers are in good shape, however, could use re-chroming. I myself like them as they are giving the car an overall great patina! The WW tires have nice tread. The passenger side front tire was flat for some time and has a crack in the side wall but is holding air now. Thus you can feel a wobble at low speed from this tire.

The interior has be redone in red velvet that is in nice shape with no rips or tears at all. The interior could us new kick panels if I don’t take care of before end of auction. It has the original rims with beauty rings and nice original hubcaps. It has a nice looking unmolested dash.

  • Some extra parts in the trunk – radio, speakers, jack & etc)
  • It has a nice clean engine bay with new belts and hoses along with a clean fire wall.
  • The car has a new master cylinder.
  • The brakes work and are very hard.
  • It has a new mechanical fuel pump
  • 2 new water pumps
  • The wiring harness is in excellent shape
  • The taillights work, however, brake light does not and needs a new sender unit.
  • It has had fresh fluid changes of oil, brake fluid and anti-freeze.

This is what I would classify as a real survivor, daily driver, solid dependable, excellent running car that is realistically priced. It is not a top show piece and is priced as such. Just the way most would want it—-trustworthy, good running and solid.
